JAN Trust is an award winning London charity that aims to support black, minority ethnic, immigrant and refugee women to overcome the barriers to inclusion they face. For two decades the charity has been dedicated to the cause of combating poverty, discrimination, abuse and social exclusion among Black, Asian, minority ethnic, refugee and asylum women (BAMER).
We provide a range of services and activities to these grass roots marginalised women including advice & guidance to women as well as awareness raising and preventative work on domestic violence, forced marriages and Female Genital Mutilation, honour based violence, cultural awareness and religious awareness particularly on the Muslim community.
We aim to support Black, Asian, minority ethnic, immigrant and refugee women to integrate into society by providing a variety of training and educational programmes including ‘Skills for Life’, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), IT, Fashion & Design, Health, Financial Literacy and Employability Skills. These activities and services support and assist vulnerable women to gain new skills and move into employment, self employment and further education thus alleviating the poverty trap that they and their families are in. Furthermore, we provide programmes to promote community cohesion and interfaith dialogue and have encouraged women and youth from various faiths and backgrounds to build friendships together and become ambassadors within their own communities
Islam for a Month (IFAM).
